David Jackson of the USA TODAY, writes;
"The challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom," Obama told the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in a speech with sweeping goals but few specifics. Obama basically plans to put more money into school funding, and push for longer days within the local schools, But some of his other goals include improved early childhood education programs, higher standards in elementary and high schools, better teacher pay and recruitment, and expanded college aid programs. As a 3rd year student I am affected greatly by whatever education reform Obama choices to make, therefore I have i have formed a strong opinion for it. I believe Obama is pushing kids today in the right direction. We need better funding, for books and new material. A stronger American education could result in a surge of better jobs within American economy. So I back his decsion 100%

Innocents or Experience?
The question is, which is more important, to be innocent or experienced? In order to answer this question I did some research on the meaning of these words. Webster’s dictionary defines innocents as free from guilt or sin expecially through lack of knowledge of evil blameless harmless in effect or intention. Experienced means made skillful or wise through experience, direct observation pf or participation in events as a basis of knowledge. Althought these two words seem very different they both share a very important constant, knowledge! So the question is basically saying, is having knowledge in this word important? I Belive it is, but i can easily see how people could see otherwise. When you have a lack of knownledge your mind is sheltered from lifes dark under belly and all you know is what you see. But when you gain knowledge and become more experienced you are more likely to be able to not only surive in this world be also take care of yourself .

Week 18 extra credit "The Healing Light Institute of Spirituality"
I read "The Healing institute pf Spirntuality" By Nelson Mandela. The basic point of the speech was that we as people are afraid of being great people. He expressed his feelings towards the more common belifes that we fear failure by contrasting this almost exactly! He also goes on to say that our "lights" incourage other people to shine. I agree with this statement for the most part. But for a select few the presence of our lights only discourage them and create a feeling of resentment and jealousy. Another point he brings up is our success and its connection to god. He promotes the idea that we should break ourselfs from this fear of success and by doing so, will show signs of godlyness. "We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us." this is a very powerful line meaning that we were put here on this earth to spread and exisbit the power of god and the strength we get from him. One of his most interesting points was that, we as children are not afraid of shineing but as we grow older, we lose sight of how amazing we can really be. i agree with his princples and calls for CHANGE.

Week 17 Extra Credit-Oedipus Rex
This was a classic play of epic proportion. After King Laius learns from an oracl that "he is doomed/To perish by the hand of his own son," he quickly sends the son away to be killed. This itself was a tough decsion, but i would see why it needed to be made. For one, if he let his son grow up to kill him he can assume that his son would be evil because he killed him, then married is mother. Although, him sending the child to die is a sign of evilness. Which could implie that on day he will be an unfit king, who needs to be killed.
Since the queen couldn't do it, she left the job to a servent. This was the kings first mistake, if he wanted to kill the baby, he should've made sure it was dead, or better yet kill it himself. By leaving it up to someone else, who couldn't even do the job, he left the fate of the child to the gods, who has already cursed his fate.
As the rest of the story goes, Oedipus goes on a journy in search of his parents. On his journey he comes across his father, unknown to him. He kills him and when he gets into town marries his own mother just as the orical said. Im not sure if its believable, because i couldn't imagine a king being killed by one man, since he would have other warriors with him for protection. I also believe the queen would've marry so fast. And to a person that just blew into town. The queen should've remembered the old orical, and thought back to her son.
Fred, thinks he sees some of him in all of use, because we all want power and love. And Oedipus did what Fred thinks we all want to do. Kill our father and marry our mother. This is a common theroy but also very conterversial.
